York Junior Symphony Orchestra

York Junior Symphony Orchestra is a full-symphonic orchestra specifically for intermediate and middle school string, woodwind, brass, and percussion musicians in grades 5-8 as they prepare for York Youth Symphony and beyond. This performing orchestra offers a supportive and engaging environment where students continue to build their skills, gain performance experience, and become a part of a welcoming musical community. Under the direction of Mr. James Nackley, this group will meet weekly on Saturday mornings and present two performances each academic year. Membership Requirements​
Students must be in grades 5 through 8 or age 10 by September 30th. It is recommended that students have ensemble training in school before auditioning for the York Junior Symphony Orchestra. It is further required that students study privately with a teacher who specializes in their given instrument. All musicians must belong and be in good standing with their school orchestra/band. If no school orchestra/band exists, complete this letter of recommendation. ​​

​​Tuition
​
Tuition for York Junior Symphony is $150 for the year, payable via Zelle or personal check, made payable to York Junior Symphony Orchestra. Membership tuition for YJSO includes instruction at 18 rehearsals and two concerts, as well as a YJSO T-shirt. Tuition instructions will be sent to families after the conclusion of auditions with payment due by the first rehearsal of the season. If tuition presents a hardship, payment plans, and tuition assistance are available.
